Garden Mulching

Beds prepared properly, then mulched — so it looks right and stays that way.

Mulching is the finish that makes a garden look cared for, and it does real work — holding moisture in the soil and giving weeds less bare ground to take hold in.

Most of the value is in the preparation. We clear the bed before anything goes down.

How we approach a mulching job

  • Clear weeds, leaves and debris out of the bed first
  • Cut back growth spilling over the bed edges
  • Redefine the bed edge against the lawn or path
  • Spread mulch to an even depth around existing plants
  • Sweep and blow down the surrounding paths and driveway

Mulch supply

We can supply the mulch or work with what you've already had delivered — either way it's included in the quote so you know the cost before we start. If you have a preference on the type, tell us and we'll price it.

Frequently asked questions

How often does mulch need topping up?
It breaks down over time and thins out. Many gardens get a top-up roughly once a year, but it depends on the mulch, the bed and how exposed it is.
Will mulch stop weeds completely?
No, and anyone promising that isn't being straight with you. It reduces them noticeably, especially when the bed was cleared properly first.
Can you do just the mulch spreading?
Yes, if the beds are already clear. We'll tell you honestly if we think preparation is needed for it to hold.
