Garden Bed Clearing
Beds cleared back to bare soil so the plants you actually want have room again.

Garden beds are usually the first thing to get away from people. Weeds seed, leaves build up, and self-sown growth spreads until you can't see the original planting.
This is a focused job — we clear the bed rather than the whole yard, and leave it in a state you can either replant or mulch.
What clearing a bed involves
- Pulling weeds out at the root where the soil allows, rather than snapping the tops off
- Removing built-up leaves and garden debris
- Cutting back unwanted or self-sown growth crowding the plants you're keeping
- Redefining the edge between the bed and the lawn
- Raking the surface level so the bed is ready for mulch or planting
Before mulching
Mulch laid over an uncleared bed doesn't hold for long — the weeds underneath push straight back through. If you're planning to mulch, clearing first is the part that makes it last, and we usually quote the two together.
Keeping it clear
Beds stay tidy far more easily when they're touched every few weeks instead of once a year. If you're already on a regular mowing visit, bed weeding can be added to it.
Frequently asked questions
- Do you use weed spray?
- Mostly we clear by hand, which is more predictable around planted beds. Where spraying makes sense we'll discuss it with you first.
- What happens to the waste?
- Small amounts go in your green bin. A heavily overgrown bed usually makes more than a bin will take, so removal is quoted separately and agreed before we start.
- Can you tell weeds from plants I want kept?
- Walk us around before we start, or mark anything you're unsure about. If something looks deliberate and we're not certain, we leave it and ask.
